Wait Well by Kavenia Clemons

Wait Well

May I broaden your mind for a moment? What does the word “wait” mean to you? In the Oxford dictionary, it is described as staying where one is or delaying action.  Biblically, if you type in the word “wait”, it parallels with the word “patience”, and “patience” with “longsuffering”. Yep! We don’t like that word as believers or unbelievers. Longsuffering is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22). It is also a characteristic of love (1Cor 13:4) that is instrumental in everyone’s life. In this season of my life, God is showing me to wait, long-suffer, well. Who wants to hear that?! Not me. But 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT) encourages us that “the Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think; no, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent. Don’t let this discourage you, my sister, while you are waiting, thinking that longsuffering is bad. No, Jesus already suffered enough for our sins so that we can overcome the world. To wait well is not the ability to wait, but how we react while waiting. It can and is frustrating, wondering how long you will be in this cycle with your husband, or when will you be released from this job. It’s His grace that is sufficient. It’s when you die to self, surrender, and know that it is not your will, your timing, or your way but God’s will and Thy will, and His will be done. Its when you can go back to 2 Peter and be reminded that the Lord is not slow on his promises, He’s just waiting on you to surrender because He loves you. Our Heavenly Father is so good to us that while we are waiting well, He sustains us, renews our strength, gives us His grace, and equips us while we wait well just as Jesus did. I pray that long-suffering doesn’t discourage you or scare you but inspires you, transforms you, and evolves you to be the Woman of God He has been waiting for you to become.

I love this on time devotional. Thank you Sister Kavenia for reminding us that through the leading and guiding of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ and our total dependence & trust in him we can wait well, no matter the season of life we happen to be going through.
